Hospitals

Waterbury has two major teaching hospitals, The Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, with a total of 600 beds. Both are equipped with trauma centers, have emergency helicopter pads and are affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine. The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center is a collaborative venture of Waterbury Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, joining together the ambulatory oncology services of each health care institution in a program committed to bringing the best possible cancer care to the local community.

There are several hospital-affiliated health and wellness centers and walk-in clinics throughout the city, at the Brass Mill Center shopping mall and more than 20 certified convalescent homes and rehabilitation facilities.

Approximately 250 licensed physicians in all major health fields serve Waterbury's hospitals and clinics. Multiple ambulance services with trained paramedical personnel provide emergency services.
